Hugo Motta implements new work schedules in Brazilian Chamber of Deputies

Hugo Motta, President of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, announced the immediate implementation of new working hour rules within the House following a constitutional amendment. The amendment ends the 6x1 work schedule and reduces the maximum weekly workload from 44 to 40 hours.

While the amendment allows up to one year for general labor contracts to be adjusted, Motta stated that the Chamber will begin making internal adjustments starting next week. The change is expected to benefit approximately 1,700 outsourced workers at the Chamber, including over 600 women. Motta described the move as a reform for the quality of life of Brazilians, aimed at providing more time for rest, health, study, and family.
