Hugo recognized as the world's tallest living horse

Hugo, a four-year-old Shire horse living in Towcester, Northamptonshire, has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the tallest living horse. Measured at 199 centimeters (approximately 6 feet 6 inches) without shoes, the animal is noted for its exceptional growth.

Owner Brett Masters stated that Hugo is still growing and is expected to continue developing until approximately 8.5 years of age. Due to his hyperactive growth plates, the horse receives intensive specialized care, including regular visits from a veterinarian, dentist, chiropractor, and massage therapist, alongside a strict diet and supplements.

While Hugo is the tallest living horse, he does not hold the all-time record. That distinction belongs to a Shire horse named Sampson (later called Mammoth), who reached a height of 2.19 meters in 1850.
