Huila Department Records Three New Frog Species

Three amphibian species were documented for the first time in Colombia's Huila department. The Andean torrent frog *Hyloscirtus aff. denticulentus* and the glass frog *Nymphargus oreonympha* were recorded in the municipality of Isnos, while the palm‑toed frog *Rheobates palmatus* was newly noted in Neiva, extending its known range.

The discoveries resulted from joint fieldwork by the Corporación Autónoma Regional del Alto Magdalena (CAM) and local community monitoring groups Orígenes and Cacique Candela, conducted in Isnos and along the POMCA river basins of the Loro and Las Ceibas rivers. CAM biologist Katherine Arenas said the records “represent important information to strengthen knowledge of amphibian distribution in Huila” and can guide conservation actions for the species and their high‑Andean ecosystems.
