Huinganco inaugurates Sacred Heart sculpture for Neuquén religious circuit
A new religious sculpture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has been inaugurated in Huinganco, Neuquén, as part of the province's 'Camino de la Fe' (Path of Faith) project. Designed by sculptor Alejandro Santana, the 12-meter-high monument is located on El Calvario hill and depicts Christ as a Good Shepherd.
Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa led the ceremony, noting that the sculpture integrates Huinganco into a religious circuit spanning over 700 kilometers from Ailinco to Villa La Angostura. The planned route will connect 20 towns and 20 lakes, featuring paved roads and connections to Chile through six international passes.
The project aims to promote religious tourism as a driver for regional economic development. Governor Figueroa stated that the infrastructure works, including the paving of international passes, are part of a broader effort to bring progress to the northern region of the province.
