HUIT becomes Vietnam's largest university by land area
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) has become the university with the largest land fund in Vietnam following a major reorganization.
According to Decision No. 2076/QD-BCT issued by the Minister of Industry and Trade on August 21, 2026, the Institute of Oil and Oilseed Research has been reorganized into a unit under HUIT. This transition involves the transfer of personnel, finances, and assets to the university.
Prior to this reorganization, HUIT managed approximately 18.8 hectares of land. Through the acquisition of the institute's facilities, which include research and production sites in Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Tre, and Tay Ninh, the university's total managed land area now exceeds 185 hectares. The institute's assets include a 60-hectare coconut center in Ben Tre and a 100-hectare seed production center in Tay Ninh.
