Huixquilcan, Mexico adds new murals under 'Art 2026' to beautify neighborhoods and boost safety

The municipal government of Huixquilcan has continued its "Huixquilcan con Arte 2026" program, commissioning local artists to create murals that restore public spaces and promote community safety. Muralist Joel Rendón painted the "Caballero Águila" piece in the Pirules neighborhood, a work that honors the area's historical roots while giving residents a more attractive and secure walking environment.

Mayor Romina Contreras Carrasco said the initiative also includes new murals in El Palacio, Montón Cuarteles, San Fernando and other colonies, as well as displays in the municipal market "25 de agosto" and the Casa de Cultura "Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz". The program seeks to embed culture, history and local identity into the urban landscape, encouraging families to visit, respect and protect the artworks.
