Health initiatives promote cancer prevention and mental wellness across Latin America

Various regional health programs are focusing on cancer prevention and mental health support. In several locations, including Aragua, Venezuela, and Tolhuin, Argentina, workshops and awareness days have been organized to promote early detection of breast cancer during ‘Pink Month’. In San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the state government is providing free mammograms to women without social security.

Mental health initiatives are also expanding. In Goya, Argentina, the inauguration of the first ‘Yellow Bench’ serves as a global symbol for suicide prevention. Other efforts include mental health workshops in Formosa, Argentina, and educational programs in Tapachula, Mexico, aimed at preventing addiction and fostering peace among youth. Additionally, the SNS in Azua, Dominican Republic, has renovated and equipped the Villarpando Primary Care Center to improve local medical access.
