Hulhumale accident claims life of nine-year-old girl
A nine-year-old girl, Zeeva Sinan Ahmed, has died following a multi-vehicle accident in Hulhumale Phase 2. The incident occurred on a Saturday night near Vinares 7 on Hithigas Magu.
Police investigations and CCTV footage suggest a complex sequence of events. The accident reportedly began when a driver attempting to enter a parked car caused a motorcycle to strike a pedestrian. The motorcycle and its rider then fell into the left lane of the road. Authorities believe a second car traveling in that lane may have failed to stop, striking or running over the young girl. An 18-year-old woman driving the motorcycle was also injured in the incident.
Zeeva Sinan Ahmed passed away while receiving ventilator treatment at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Police have confiscated the driving licenses of the three drivers involved and towed the vehicles. The driver of the parked car was found to be operating the vehicle while his license was already withheld; he has been fined and faces further sanctions. Forensic analysis is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
