Hulhumale' authorities move to install safety railings on residential towers

Authorities in Hulhumale' are moving to implement urgent safety measures in residential towers following recent incidents of individuals falling from high-rise buildings. The Male' City Council has unanimously decided to request that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) install railings on windows and balconies to prevent further accidents.

Simultaneously, the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) announced plans to introduce additional safety measures across its social housing developments. Under the direction of President Mohamed Muizzu, FDC will prioritize units occupied by children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. The corporation is currently assessing safety needs at the Amaan Udhares and Amaan Dhodhi housing towers.

These actions follow tragic incidents, including the death of a two-year-old girl who fell from the twelfth floor of a residential tower and an injury to a teenager who fell from a third-floor unit.
