Hull City fined £30,000 by FA over discriminatory chanting

Hull City has been fined £30,000 by the Football Association (FA) following discriminatory chanting during an FA Cup match against Chelsea in February. The club accepted charges from the FA for failing to ensure supporters did not use offensive or insulting language regarding sexual orientation.

During the match at the MKM Stadium, spectators were repeatedly warned via the public-address system and stadium screens to stop the chants. Three individuals were arrested for allegedly engaging in homophobic chanting, and the club has since issued bans of at least three years to three supporters.

Hull City condemned the behavior in the strongest possible terms, noting that the chant used is a recognized homophobic slur and its use may constitute a hate crime. Ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the club warned supporters that discrimination is unacceptable and that those using such language could face arrest and criminal charges.
