Hull City owner confirms contract extension for manager Sergej Jakirović

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has confirmed that manager Sergej Jakirović will sign a contract extension, with official signing expected next week. Ilicali noted that negotiations were exceptionally brief, stating, “We agreed on all terms and are extending the contract. The conversation did not last longer than five minutes.”

The decision follows Jakirović’s successful tenure, which saw Hull City rise from a struggle against relegation in the Championship to securing promotion to the Premier League via a victory over Middlesbrough at Wembley. The club also recently marked its first league win against Manchester United since 1974, securing a 2-0 victory.

Ilicali credited the team's success to their fighting spirit and determination, noting that the players' desire to win was a deciding factor in their recent performance against Manchester United.
