Hull Heat Network website launch links local businesses to low‑carbon district heat

A new website has been launched to provide Hull businesses with information on how to join the Hull District Heat Network, a low‑carbon heating scheme that will recycle waste heat through insulated underground pipes. Delivered by Vital Energi in partnership with Hull City Council, the network is expected to avoid about 110,000 tonnes of CO₂ over 40 years and reduce the city’s reliance on gas. Funding comes from the Green Heat Network Fund, the Levelling Up Partnership and the National Wealth Fund.

At the same time, the Riverlution Humber Stewardship Partnership – an environmental and skills programme in the Humber region – has taken on its first apprentice, Oliver Taylor, as a Level 3 Water Environment Worker. The scheme combines river restoration work with on‑the‑job training, creating local jobs and delivering social‑impact value. Since its seed funding of £30,000 in 2024, the partnership has generated more than £162,000 in tangible social benefits for the community.
