Hulu acquires true-crime documentary and Australian drama series

Hulu, owned by Disney, has acquired the US rights to two series from Banijay Rights: the true-crime documentary series ‘The Promise: Finding My Mother’s Killer’ and the Australian drama ‘Invisible Boys’.

‘The Promise’ is a three-part documentary following Iranian-American Pooneh Entezari’s 30-year effort to identify her mother’s killer. After her father, Mike Entezari, was convicted of the 1989 murder of Effie Entezari in Vancouver, Pooneh used her own fortune to fund an investigation. The investigation eventually led to a civil trial concluding that Viktor Pell was responsible for the crime.

‘Invisible Boys’ is an award-winning Australian coming-of-age drama set in Geraldton, Western Australia. The series follows a group of gay teenagers navigating identity and social challenges after one member is outed on social media.
