Hulu to release ‘Clown Panic’ documentary about 2016 killer clown craze

Hulu has announced the release of ‘Clown Panic’, a new documentary scheduled to premiere on October 12 as part of its ‘Huluween’ programming. Directed by Ed Perkins, the film investigates the 2016 phenomenon where reports of killer clown sightings in Grenville County, South Carolina, escalated into a nationwide social media frenzy.

The documentary utilizes archival footage, viral videos, and interviews with witnesses, law enforcement, and cultural commentators to examine how the sightings led to school lockdowns, police investigations, and the formation of armed vigilante groups. The film also features perspectives from professional clowns who faced backlash during the hysteria.

‘Clown Panic’ will be available for streaming on Hulu and via Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the United States, and on Disney+ internationally.
