Hulu pilot ‘Chicks’ adds new cast members and director

Hulu is expanding the cast and production team for its upcoming drama pilot, ‘Chicks’. The series, a family dramedy set in the gentrifying neighborhoods of Boston, stars Ellen Pompeo and Jodie Whittaker as estranged half-sisters.

The plot follows the two women as they navigate financial struggles following the unexpected death of their father, who leaves behind a legacy of small-time crime rather than a fortune. This inheritance leads the sisters to engage in audacious frauds.

New cast additions include Jason Schmidt as Sally, Jr., a finance professional seeking family approval; Julia Lester as Sinead, a woman recently released from prison; and Piper Runge as Lori, a nursing student. Max Winkler, known for his work on various Ryan Murphy projects, has joined the pilot as director and executive producer. The project is written by Katie Robbins, who developed the concept specifically for Pompeo.
