Hulvey cancels Amsterdam concert over explicit venue displays
Christian hip-hop artist Hulvey canceled a sold-out concert in Amsterdam on October 16, just one hour before the scheduled performance. The artist, a 27-year-old Georgia native and Dove Award winner, cited the presence of sexually explicit images and objects displayed within the venue, Club Annie.
Hulvey stated that the decision was made to protect families and young children attending the event, noting that he had been meeting with fans as young as seven years old during a VIP meet-and-greet. He explained that his team attempted to negotiate with venue management to cover the graphic material on the walls, but the request was denied. The venue reportedly offered to cover only one side of the bar rather than the wall displays.
The concert had been relocated to the larger venue after ticket sales exceeded initial expectations, a move Hulvey's team said they were not informed of prior to discovering the explicit displays. In a social media video, the rapper emphasized that his decision was rooted in his faith, stating, ‘I stand for Jesus only.’
