Huma Qureshi's film Bayaan scheduled for Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Indian actress Huma Qureshi's critically acclaimed film Bayaan will be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) from August 13 to 23, 2026 in Australia. In the movie Qureshi portrays police officer Roohi Kartar, who investigates sexual‑abuse allegations against a powerful cult leader. The film, directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 and features Chandrachur Singh and Sachin Khedekar in supporting roles.

Qureshi described the role as “challenging and rewarding,” saying Roohi “stands her ground in the face of immense pressure.” She hopes audiences will engage with the film’s questions about power, truth and justice and leave the theatre with something to reflect on.
