Humaitá ruins undergo maintenance as officials seek repatriation of Christian Cannon

Maintenance work has concluded on the San Carlos de Borromeo church ruins in Humaitá, a significant symbol of Paraguayan resistance during the War of the Triple Alliance. The conservation efforts, which involved clearing weeds from the historic building, were carried out by specialized technicians and supported by various entities, including the National Secretariat of Culture, the Binational Yacyretá Entity, and the Government of Ñeembucú.

In a related development, the Municipality of Humaitá has announced its intention to request that the ‘Christian Cannon’ be exhibited at these ruins once it is repatriated from Brazil.
