Medical researchers advance prostate cancer and longevity studies
Researchers have made progress in cancer treatment through two distinct avenues. Swedish researchers have developed a fully human antibody designed to target aggressive prostate cancer. By specifically targeting the TβRI receptor signaling pathway, the antibody aims to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis while minimizing damage to healthy tissues, such as the heart and aorta, which occurred in previous clinical attempts.
Separately, a study from Harvard Medical School suggests the thymus gland plays a more significant role in adult health and longevity than previously understood. Analyzing data from over 27,000 individuals using artificial intelligence, researchers found a correlation between thymus gland health and reduced risks of cancer and cardiovascular disease. While the prostate cancer antibody shows promise in preclinical studies, it requires further clinical trials before human application.
