Human remains discovered in abandoned Chiang Mai home

A prospective buyer discovered human remains while inspecting an abandoned, bank-owned wooden house in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The two-story property, located near the Ban-Tha-Duea market, was scheduled for auction by the Legal Execution Department following a bank seizure.

The discovery occurred on the ground floor when the individual moved a mosquito net covering a bed and found a skeleton. Local residents believe the remains belong to Sriwan Sae Jiew, a 93-year-old former owner who previously operated a small grocery store in the building. Neighbors reported that she and her son had not been seen for approximately five or six years.

Officers from the Mae Ping Police Station and forensic experts from Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital have secured the scene. An autopsy is expected to determine the exact identity of the remains and the cause of death.
