Human rights advocates demand action for minors in Spain and Mexico
In Spain, the organization El Defensor del Paciente has requested that the State Attorney General's Office take urgent action regarding the care of unaccompanied minors in Ceuta. The group claims that various autonomous communities are refusing to host these minors, leaving them in a state of “inhumanity” and vulnerability. They argue this violates Organic Law 4/2000 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, requesting an immediate investigation and the implementation of protection measures.
In Mexico, the Secretariat of Women has issued a condemnation following reports of an 11-year-old girl in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, who is pregnant as a result of sexual violence. The agency called on authorities to ensure the child receives comprehensive medical, psychological, and legal care. The Secretariat emphasized that all child pregnancies are the result of sexual abuse and constitute a grave violation of human rights.
