Human rights and public safety initiatives reported in Côte d’Ivoire and Thailand

In Côte d’Ivoire, the NGO Initiative for the Promotion of Social and Human Rights (IPSDH) conducted a sensitization campaign in Madinani, Kafingué, Fembiasso, and Kadiasso. The initiative focused on road safety, HIV/AIDS prevention, sexually transmitted infections, and gender-based violence (GBV) to mitigate social and health risks associated with local infrastructure construction projects.

During the sessions, local authorities urged citizens to respect traffic rules and act as community relays for health information. Social worker Bagné Isabelle highlighted the recurrence of gender-based violence in the department, calling for victims to seek support and for communities to report such acts.

In Thailand, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), in partnership with Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), submitted a report to the United Nations Human Rights Committee. The report addresses civil and political rights concerns, including the death penalty, torture, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, and freedoms of expression, assembly, and association. The Committee is expected to address these issues during its 146th session scheduled for late 2026.
