Human Rights Campaign President campaigns for Chris Pappas in New Hampshire

Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson campaigned for U.S. Representative Chris Pappas in Manchester, New Hampshire, on August 30, 2026. The campaign effort comes ahead of the September 8 primary, which will determine candidates for the seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen.

In the Democratic primary, Pappas currently leads challenger Karishma Manzur according to a University of New Hampshire Survey Center poll. If Pappas wins the general election in November, he would become the first openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate.

On the Republican side, former U.S. Senator John E. Sununu and former U.S. Senator Scott Brown are competing for the nomination. Recent polling indicates Sununu holds a lead over Brown. In a hypothetical general election matchup, Sununu leads Pappas by a margin of 45% to 43%.
