Brazil conducts National Teacher Exam for over 625,000 candidates

More than 625,000 students and graduates participated in the 2026 National Teacher Exam (PND) across Brazil on September 20. The exam, an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MEC) supported by Inep, covers 21 different evaluation areas.

For students completing their degrees, the PND serves as the mandatory theoretical component of the National Student Performance Exam (Enade) for Licensure programs, acting as a prerequisite for graduation. The results can also be utilized by various government entities for teacher selection processes. In Rio Grande do Norte, the state government has already formalized the use of PND scores as a complementary tool for hiring temporary teachers.

The exam structure consists of 80 objective questions and one discursive question. The final score is based on a 100-point scale, with objective questions accounting for 80% and the discursive portion representing 20%. Preliminary answer keys are scheduled for release on September 24, while the final results are expected on December 15.
