Human rights groups denounce alleged violence in Costa Rica and Argentina

In Costa Rica, the political group Juventudes PAC has called on the Ministry of Justice and Peace to investigate allegations of violence and cruel treatment at the La Reforma penitentiary center. The group claims that during an operation on October 9 in sector C, inmates were subjected to beatings and forced transfers to maximum security. There are also unconfirmed reports of a possible death and concerns regarding the whereabouts and health of several individuals.

In Argentina, the Asamblea Plaza Almagro reported police repression during a community food distribution at Parque de la Estación. The organization stated that approximately 20 officers used pepper spray and batons against people living in the park and detained one individual. The group characterized the incident as constant harassment intended to displace vulnerable populations and has called for a community gathering this coming Sunday.
