Human trafficking and illegal labor reported in Denmark
Human trafficking and illegal labor remain significant issues in Denmark, as highlighted by recent reports in Copenhagen and Aarhus. In Copenhagen, women forced into street-based sex work are using a safe space provided by Reden International to find respite. One victim, referred to as ‘Kassandra’, described being trafficked to Denmark and forced to work to pay off a debt of approximately 250,000 kroner.
In Aarhus, police conducted a raid on a location suspected of operating a brothel. Three foreign women were arrested and charged with performing illegal work. The Center against Human Trafficking has reviewed the cases and determined that the women do not appear to be victims of trafficking. The Danish Immigration Service is currently assessing whether the individuals should be repatriated.
