Human Trafficking Rings Use Fake Job Ads in Mexico and Spain

In Veracruz, Mexico, Minerva Regina Pérez, president of the State Human Rights Commission (CEDH), warned that false job offers posted on social media are being used to lure victims into human‑trafficking schemes. She highlighted the low number of investigations – only 17 cases recorded over the past two and a half years – and urged the public to distrust unrealistic salary offers and report suspicious postings, especially around the World Day Against Trafficking on July 30.

In Spain, the International Network Against Human Trafficking (RATT International) and its partners presented a guide on best practices for victim assistance. During the launch in Vigo, RATT International president Fernando Mao and Spanish delegate Alma Delia Salazar emphasized that new technologies enable traffickers to exploit fake job ads, call‑center offers and online scams, creating a “new challenge” for authorities and civil society. The guide aims to raise awareness and improve training for organizations confronting the growing threat.
