Assam floods relief scaled up by NEADS and Reliance Foundation

Severe flooding across Upper Assam – affecting Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Dhemaji districts – followed a cloudburst in Nagaland's Mon district on July 19. The North-East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS) expanded its emergency response, deploying multidisciplinary teams to assess needs and deliver food, hygiene kits, temporary shelter and health services. NEADS reports assistance reaching about 12,000 people and aims to support up to 100,000 flood‑affected residents, pending additional resources.

Reliance Foundation launched a parallel relief effort targeting 10,000 families in the hardest‑hit districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo. The programme provides public‑health risk management, community kitchens, dry‑ration kits, shelter materials and livestock protection. Over 500,000 people have been impacted by the floods, which have damaged homes, infrastructure and livelihoods. Both organisations are coordinating with district authorities to address immediate humanitarian needs and lay the groundwork for early recovery.
