Humanitarian aid efforts mobilized in Spain for wildfires and earthquake relief
Humanitarian efforts are underway in Spain to support victims of recent natural disasters in Andalusia and Colombia.
In Andalusia, World Central Kitchen (WCK) has deployed resources to combat the severe Niebla wildfires. Led by chef Xanty Elías, the organization provided over 1,000 nutritional rations within three hours of activation to support emergency responders and those affected by the flames. The mission focuses on providing balanced meals to maintain the strength of frontline personnel.
In Madrid, a grassroots campaign led by content creators and the Fundación Madrina has established a collection center in the Tetuán neighborhood to aid victims of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10. The initiative aims to mobilize up to 200 tons of supplies, including medical materials, blankets, and hygiene products, for affected regions such as Chocó and the Eje Cafetero. The earthquake has resulted in 287 deaths and thousands of injuries across Colombia.
