Cappadocia hot air balloons launched in solidarity with Gaza

Hot air balloons carrying symbols of Palestine and the keffiyeh pattern rose over Cappadocia's Göreme region to draw international attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Organized by the Nevşehir branch of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, the event featured balloons decorated to send messages of peace and solidarity with the Palestinian people.

During the event, Mustafa Khaleel, a student at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, delivered a statement highlighting the ongoing suffering in Gaza since October 7, 2023. He noted the collapse of the healthcare system and the severe lack of electricity, fuel, and medicine, which particularly affects pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses. Khaleel also called for the international community and Islamic nations to take concrete steps to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and to protect civilians.
