Humanitarian High School in Plovdiv reopens after major renovation

Students from the Humanitarian High School ‘St. St. Cyril and Methodius’ and Knyaz Aleksandar I Primary School have officially returned to their renovated historic building in Plovdiv for the start of the new school year.

The reopening follows a major renovation project that began in June 2025. While the ceremony was attended by approximately 2,000 students, teachers, and parents, officials acknowledged that some finishing works are still ongoing. Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov noted that while the building required these essential repairs, construction crews will continue to complete minor tasks, such as installing doors and impregnation, during upcoming weekends.

Prior to the opening, local concerns had been raised regarding the building's safety and the status of its occupancy permits. However, Central District Mayor Georgi Stamenov maintained that the necessary inspections by relevant institutions had been conducted and that the absence of a final Act 16 permit would not prevent the commencement of the school year.
