Humanitarian organizations provide free eye care in Bangladesh and Chad
Medical campaigns in Bangladesh and Chad are providing essential ophthalmic services to vulnerable populations.
In northern Bangladesh, volunteer Saudi doctors and the Al-Basar International Foundation conducted a seven-day program at Makka Eye Hospital in Rangpur. Funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and Al-Basar International Foundation, the initiative provided free examinations, consultations, medicines, and reading glasses to 5,014 patients. Additionally, medical teams successfully performed 586 cataract surgeries to assist low-income households in the region.
In eastern Chad, a medical camp in Adré is targeting Sudanese refugees and local host communities. Organized by Al-Jawda Eye Clinic, the For You Initiative, and Ihya Charitable Foundation, the program aims to perform 150 free cataract removal surgeries. Over 800 people have registered for services, with hundreds already receiving medical consultations and screenings to identify those requiring surgical intervention.
