Humanoid robot DiGi performs in Veracruz, Mexico

A humanoid robot named DiGi recently drew attention in the Zócalo of Veracruz, Mexico, where it performed dances, greeted passersby, and demonstrated karate moves. The white android stands approximately 1.30 meters tall and weighs 35 kilograms.

Operator David Hernández stated that the robot utilizes artificial intelligence and is currently undergoing training to improve its human interaction and communication skills. The long-term goal for the project is to deploy the technology in commercial settings, such as retail stores, to assist with customer service.

As part of a broader initiative, DiGi is traveling through major cities in Mexico to introduce robotics technology to the general public. Observers reported a range of reactions, from curiosity to apprehension, particularly among children encountering the lifelike movements of the machine.
