Humanoid Robot Market Projected to Reach $40.5 Billion by 2033

A new Grand View Research report estimates the global humanoid robot market will grow to $40.5 billion by 2033, expanding at a 38.2% compound annual growth rate from 2026 onward. Growth is driven by rapid technological advancements, expanding use in military and defence, industrial automation, and healthcare applications such as patient care, physical therapy and surgical assistance. Companies are diversifying business models, for example CloudMinds offers a rental programme for cloud‑connected humanoid robots like the widely recognised Cloud Pepper.

The rise of humanoid robots is also reshaping production landscapes, especially in China, which is expected to build 100,000 units this year and already operates about two million robots across factories, warehouses and customer‑facing roles. Experts warn the pace of development presents new societal challenges. As technologist Clayton Cross noted, “We’ve never been here before. We’ve had machines replace muscle… now they are beginning to replace thinking.” Australian officials are drafting a national artificial‑intelligence plan to address these emerging issues, while the reliance on rare‑earth minerals—largely supplied by China—adds a strategic dimension to the robotics race.
