Humans First proposes H-1B visa moratorium in new AI policy
The conservative organization Humans First has proposed an ‘America First AI Policy’ that includes a call to halt H-1B visas. Led by Amy Cramer, the group argues that the benefits of AI leadership should be reserved for American workers. The framework suggests implementing tax relief for workers, domestic workforce training, and mandatory disclosures regarding job losses caused by AI expansion.
Beyond labor issues, the proposal seeks to protect national security by tightening export controls on high-end chips and critical AI technologies to China and other adversarial nations, including through third-party countries. The group also advocates for preventing Chinese control over American data centers and calls for enhanced security screenings for foreign employees at frontier AI companies.
Additional recommendations include independent third-party testing of major AI systems, halting the development of ‘superhuman AI’—specifically processes involving recursive self-improvement—and ending the federal use of camera networks like Flock.
