Humberto Mingorance resigns as president of Aysam
Humberto Mingorance has submitted his indeclinable resignation from the presidency of Agua y Saneamiento Mendoza (Aysam), citing personal reasons in a letter addressed to Governor Alfredo Cornejo and Minister Natalio Mema. Mingorance defended his tenure, stating the company is in a financially strengthened position with a financial surplus and over USD 194 million in ongoing works.
His departure follows significant legal and environmental scrutiny. Mingorance has been indicted by prosecutors Gabriel Blanco and Sebastián Capizzi regarding an environmental disaster caused by sewage spills in Los Corralitos, specifically involving the collapse of the Colectora Máxima Noreste. The incident resulted in the discharge of untreated effluents into agricultural irrigation channels. Additionally, the State Prosecutor's Office flagged irregularities in Aysam's contracting processes related to the repair of that collector.
Ginés Darío Hernández, an economist and former general manager of the company, has been appointed to succeed Mingorance. Hernández has worked in the water and sanitation sector since 2000 and previously held roles as the Economic Regulation Manager at the Provincial Water and Sanitation Entity and Finance Manager at Aysam.
