Humberto Prieto Herrera challenges Reynosa Mayor over supplier allegations

A political dispute has escalated between the Mayor of Reynosa, Carlos Peña Ortiz, and Humberto Prieto Herrera, the President of the Governing Board of the Tamaulipas State Congress.

Peña Ortiz has accused the State Congress of utilizing suppliers allegedly linked to criminal activities, including extortion. In response, Prieto Herrera dismissed the claims as baseless and challenged the Mayor to present concrete evidence. Prieto Herrera stated that the legislature is subject to both state and federal auditing processes and expressed readiness to cooperate with any official investigation.

Prieto Herrera invited the Mayor to his office to formally present any proof of wrongdoing so that a joint complaint could be filed with the competent authorities. He maintained that he has no knowledge of any suppliers involved in illicit activities and noted that current contracts are for the ordinary operational needs of the institution.
