Humberto Zerón Martínez Leaves Sinaloa Security Post to Rejoin Military

General Brigadier Humberto Zerón Martínez resigned as subsecretary of Prevention and Social Reintegration at the Sinaloa State Public Security Secretariat after serving about a year and seven months. The state announced his departure was for personal reasons and that he will return to active duty with the Mexican Army under the Secretariat of National Defense.

His resignation comes days after influencer César Gastélum was shot and killed while livestreaming in Culiacán. Authorities linked the investigation to the victim’s online posts about a criminal group. The state secretariat thanked Zerón for his professionalism and noted that a replacement has yet to be named, with further details pending from the state government.
