Hume Highway upgrade to continue at Table Top

The NSW Government is commencing the next stage of a major upgrade to the Hume Highway at Table Top. Transport for NSW is working to improve a 3.3 kilometre section of northbound lanes and a 3.15 kilometre section of southbound lanes to create a more durable and safer road surface for motorists and heavy freight.

The project includes road reconstruction, resurfacing, drainage improvements, new safety barriers, and updated signage and line marking. Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty stated that the Hume Highway serves as a vital link between regional NSW, Sydney, and Melbourne, and that the investment aims to support local jobs and regional economies by improving transport connections.

Following the completion of the first stage in June 2026, the second stage will focus on the remaining 1.65 kilometres of the northbound lanes. This work is scheduled to begin on September 18 and is expected to take approximately 12 weeks, depending on weather conditions. Stage three, which covers the southbound lanes, is planned for the next financial year.
