Humpback whale performs jumps near paddleboarder in Papudo, Chile

A Stand Up Paddle athlete, Jaime Reinoso, captured footage of a humpback whale performing two large jumps near his board off the coast of Papudo, Chile. The encounter occurred near Punta Pite around 11:30 AM on September 7.

Reinoso reported that he maintained a safety distance of approximately 100 meters. He noted that while he was paddling, he began singing, which coincided with the whale's appearance. While dolphins are seen year-round in the area, whale sightings are typically more frequent during the spring and summer seasons.
