Hunan artisan's cast iron job posting attracts viral attention

A job advertisement for traditional cast iron casting in Jiaxing County, Hunan Province, has gained significant attention from young people in China due to its highly attractive working conditions.

The recruitment, posted by Mr. Ma—a provincial-level artisan and successor of manual cast iron techniques—offers skilled workers a monthly salary of 15,000 NDT (approximately 58 million VND). The schedule includes working two days followed by one day off, with a total of three months of annual leave, including a two-month break from June to August and one month for the Lunar New Year.

In response to the viral interest, Mr. Ma clarified that these high wages and benefits apply only to experienced, skilled craftsmen. New apprentices must undergo a rigorous training period lasting between two months and one year, during which they do not receive the full salary. He also noted that the work environment is physically demanding, involving exposure to extreme heat from molten iron, dust, and shifts that may include night work.
