Hundred Flowers Awards establishes first AIGC unit

The 38th Hundred Flowers Awards held an honors ceremony in Beijing for its newly established AIGC (Generative Artificial Intelligence) unit. This marks the first time in the 64-year history of the awards that a dedicated channel has been opened for AIGC-generated imagery.

The unit received 2,038 submissions over a one-month period. From these, 30 works reached the final stage, with 24 receiving enrollment honors and six receiving “Hundred Flowers AIGC Promotion Honors.” Key winners included “Yi Meng” for Best Animation, “Laishi Lu” for Best Visual Effects, and “Duan She” for Best Short Film.

Jimeng AI served as the exclusive technical partner, providing video generation tools and computing power. Industry experts and judges noted that AIGC is lowering the threshold for film production, enabling small teams to execute large-scale scenes and allowing creators to realize complex ideas at a lower cost. Jurors emphasized that while AI acts as an efficient tool for technical execution, the core of filmmaking remains rooted in human aesthetics, narrative, and directorial judgment.
