Hundreds rally in Göttingen and Völklingen against right‑wing violence and AfD conference

In Göttingen, a large left‑wing demonstration was organised after a knife attack that left a 23‑year‑old seriously injured. Around 1,100‑1,500 participants marched through the city centre, displaying pyrotechnics, slogans and threatening banners such as “We’ll get you all”. Police reported no major incidents. The suspected 17‑year‑old attacker, alleged to be linked to the far‑right, was released pending further investigation, with prosecutors noting possible self‑defence.

In Völklingen, up to 80 demonstrators gathered on the day of the AfD regional party conference in Völklingen‑Wehrden. The protest, organised by various left groups including Antifa and the Socialist Youth, proceeded without disturbances, according to police. No arrests or clashes were reported, and the AfD meeting continued without incident.
