Modernization works on the DJ 707 road, locally known as ‘Drumul Regelui’ (The King’s Road), have reached a physical progress stage of 30.42%. This project connects Hunedoara and Arad counties through the Zărand Mountains.
The construction, which officially began on March 1, 2026, involves technical works such as building retaining walls, widening the roadway, repairing bridges and culverts, and performing difficult excavations on slopes. In some sections, new asphalt layers are already being applied.
Laurențiu Nistor, President of the Hunedoara County Council, noted that the project aims to improve economic development and mobility for local communities. The 17-kilometer modernization project includes approximately 13 kilometers within Hunedoara County, specifically between Căzănești (Vața de Jos commune) and the Arad county border. Once completed, the route is expected to enhance tourism by creating a direct link between the Vața Băi resort area and Săvârșin Castle.
