Hung Yen to recreate historic Pho Hien trading port
Hung Yen Province has announced a 1/2,000 scale subdivision planning project to recreate the historic Pho Hien trading port. Spanning approximately 1,708.9 hectares, the project covers the areas of Hong Chau, Pho Hien, Son Nam, and Tan Hung.
The development aims to integrate the preservation of historical and cultural values with urban growth, tourism, services, and the natural riverfront ecosystem. The plan is divided into four primary functional zones:
Zone I (Phuc Hien) covers about 411 hectares and is designed as a reception area, wharf, and an old town recreation space. It will feature architecture representing Vietnamese residents and merchants from 12 different nations, including representatives from Europe and Asia such as the Netherlands, the UK, France, Portugal, China, Japan, Thailand, India, and Indonesia.
Zone II (Festivals and International Convention Center) encompasses 434 hectares, focusing on cultural spaces, squares, and international event venues. Zone III (Tourism Services) covers 474 hectares, including commercial spaces, ports, riverside open spaces, and entertainment areas. Zone IV (Ecological Greenery) spans 388 hectares along the Red River, intended for ecological landscapes, gardens, and camping areas.
