Chiu Ming-chien, Chairman of Hung Yi Precision, a leading provider of semiconductor wafer carriers, emphasized that 'trust' and 'flexibility' are the core competitive advantages for Taiwanese semiconductor suppliers in a polarized global market. Speaking on the importance of maintaining Western trust amid geopolitical shifts, Chiu noted that while expanding manufacturing to locations like Japan and the United States involves higher costs and operational challenges, these investments are essential to securing long-term partnerships with major international clients.

Chiu highlighted that the global semiconductor supply chain is shifting from a cost-driven model to one focused on strategic security and traceability. To adapt, Hung Yi Precision is pursuing a 'Taiwan Plus One' strategy, establishing overseas manufacturing bases in Japan and enhancing CNC processing capabilities in the U.S. to serve high-precision sectors such as aerospace and defense.

Regarding market segments, Chiu described the company's approach in China as a 'selling shovels' strategy, catering to local demand for mid-to-low-end products. He also projected significant growth in the advanced packaging sector, estimating that revenue from related carriers will rise from single digits to double digits between 2026 and 2028. He positioned the company as a solution provider capable of meeting diverse, customized requirements for global clients.
