Hungarian authorities investigate undisclosed DM advertisement on RTL
The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) and the Self-Regulatory Advertising Body (ÖRT) have launched investigations into a controversial broadcast involving Dorka Gryllus on the RTL Reggeli program. During the October 12, 2026, episode, Gryllus appeared to experience a spontaneous health crisis involving the topic of menopause. It was later revealed that the scene was a pre-arranged part of a commercial campaign commissioned by the drugstore DM.
Because the segment was not identified as commercial content, it has been flagged as potentially illegal hidden advertising, which is classified as commercial communication disguised as editorial content. RTL has issued a public apology for the incident. The ÖRT is currently reviewing the case following consumer complaints, specifically examining whether the use of a staged medical emergency as an advertising mechanism violates ethical codes. All involved parties, including RTL, DM, and Gryllus, have indicated their intention to cooperate with the investigations.
