Hungarian clubs knocked out of Conference League qualifiers
Debrecen VSC suffered a 0‑3 defeat at home to Denmark's record champion FC Copenhagen in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, leaving the Hungarian side with a heavy deficit ahead of the upcoming second‑leg tie. The winner of the next round between Finland's Inter Turku and Liechtenstein's Vaduz will face Debrecen for a place in the group stage.
In a separate tie, ETO FC of Győr were eliminated after a 1‑0 loss to Latvia's FC Riga, the only goal coming from an own‑goal by Győr defender Bálint Selyem. The Latvian side will meet the loser of the Lech Poznan (Poland) versus Klaksvík (Faroe Islands) match in the return leg.
Both Hungarian clubs now face challenging paths to remain in the competition.
