Hungarian communities celebrate Saint Michael's Day with traditional festivities

Various communities in Hungary celebrated Saint Michael's Day with traditional festivities and cultural programs.

In Dunakeszi, the celebration featured a festive mass at the Saint Michael Church, marking the 270th anniversary of the church's existence. The event included folk dance performances by the Körösi Folk Dance Ensemble, musical demonstrations, and activities for children such as puppet shows and traditional crafts. The sunny weather supported outdoor activities and local culinary offerings.

In Jaminai, the Jaminai Community House organized an outdoor autumn welcome event. The program focused on preserving folk traditions through activities like grape pressing, craft workshops, and a Saint Michael's Day quiz. Cultural highlights included a street theater performance by the Debrecen-based Kuckó Művésztanya troupe, which presented a unique puppet show based on the folk tale ‘Só’. Local culinary experiences, such as freshly baked pies and must, were also central to the community gathering.
