Hungarian communities hold Saint Stephen commemorations

Hungarian communities across various regions held commemorations to honor Saint Stephen and the founding of the Hungarian state.

In Lendva, the Hungarian minority celebrated with a memorial service and the wreath-laying at a Saint Stephen statue. Leaders emphasized the importance of preserving national rights and cultural identity for future generations.

In Szentkirály, festivities included the restoration of a historic stone cross from 1823, art exhibitions at the Zarkaházi Szily Castle, and a celebratory mass featuring the blessing of new bread.

In Transcarpathia, specifically in Aknaszlatinna, the Hungarian Cultural Association organized central events including student performances and ceremonies at the Saint Stephen church to strengthen local identity.

In Szenttamás, the local community gathered at the Calvary site for an outdoor mass on the eve of the national holiday, maintaining a tradition that serves as a symbol of faith and unity for the local Hungarian population.
